My background includes 4 years of training and certification from the Gestalt Experiential Training Institute, Vancouver, Canada.

I have a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature ( La Sorbonne, Paris )
and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature with a Minor in Psychoanalysis ( the University of Toronto ).

The teenage years are one of the most challenging times in a person's life. As well as undergoing hormonal and other physical changes, teenagers become more independent from their families and in doing so are increasingly influenced by their surroundings and the greater world, including peers and society at large. At the same time, they often feel under pressure to perform at school and succeed in life.
The sessions I offer help teenagers better understand themselves, their needs and their interests. Through active listening and thought provoking questions I help them discover their deepest thoughts and feelings and I support them in pursuing their interests and dreams. I also help them develop greater confidence and self-esteem and to learn to take greater responsibility for themselves. Sessions can focus too on developing practical skills such as time management and solid study habits. We look at one's life holistically, taking into account the importance of essentials such a exercise, nutrition and sleep as well as family dynamics and other relationships.
Pursuing creative projects not only includes giving expression to thoughts, ideas, beliefs and visions but also many hours of work. In order to accomplish this work, various forms of support are required, both tangible and intangible.
Through regular, hour-long sessions, I help you articulate your goals and challenges, supporting and empowering you to reach your highest aspirations, taking into account the importance of ongoing, limit-stretching work along the way.
We begin by expressing and developing a vision for what you would like to achieve. Following this, I help you create manageable steps towards your goals. This process involves identifying and working though what stops you - blocks and barriers - from progressing with your goals and learning how to overcome them so that you can engage fully in your work. This entails learning how to befriend and support yourself as well as learning how to find support and stimulation from other sources.
I see myself as an ally, helping you recognize and connect with your deepest creative intentions and the power to fulfill them. Regular sessions help you develop discipline and accountability. As a result, you can experience the satisfaction of making progress with your work and eventually bringing it to completion according to the time-frame you have established during our initial sessions.

Gestalt Psychotherapy is one of the main humanistic and psychodynamic therapies. It originated in Germany in the 1940’s where it grew out of Gestalt Psychology and was developed by Fritz Perls, Laura Perls (both doctors and Freudian psychoanalysts) and Paul Goodman. Fritz Perls broke with his Freudian background due to a different view of repression and because he became critical of the lengthy psychoanalytical process which he called the “year-decade-century lying on the couch”. After leaving Germany and working in South Africa, Fritz and Laura Perls moved to New York where Fritz Perls collaborated with Paul Goodman on a book entitled Gestalt Therapy. The year that it was published – 1951 – is generally considered the year in which Gestalt was officially born.
The word Gestalt means whole or complete and Gestalt Psychotherapy is a holistic approach which takes into account what a person is experiencing mentally, emotionally and physically. It works with the different parts of a person,
which can often be in conflict with each other, to achieve greater harmony and integration.
It is existential and phenomenological in that is based on experience, observation and description rather than on analysis. Perceiving, feeling and acting are distinguished from explaining and interpreting which are considered less reliable than what is directly perceived and felt.
The client and therapist communicate their phenomenological perspectives and differences in perspective can become the focus of experimentation and continued dialogue.
The client-therapist relationship is in itself a key part of the therapeutic process.The interaction between therapist and client is a dialogue marked by characteristics such as inclusion in which the therapist puts him or herself as much as is possible into the experience of the client without judging, analyzing or interpreting what he or she observes ; presence, through which the therapist expresses with authenticity his or her observations and thoughts to the client, and commitment which allows a feeling of connection ( contact ) between the therapist and client.
Gestalt is very much centred in the here and now as it explores the past and the present through the lens of the moment.
It focuses more on process - what is happening - than on content - what is being discussed.
The goal of Gestalt therapy is to foster heightened self-awareness and personal responsibility, leading to a greater range of choices and opportunities for change as well as greater self-acceptance and the experience of being more fully alive.
